JOBS IN GAMING

Perhaps you have always wanted
to work for a videogame company, but everyone discouraged you?
Well, you may be surprised to know that people who do make jobs
in gaming usually turn out to be very successful. The average
person who works on a game will make about 2% of the profits of
the game. That may not sound like much to you, but add in that it
sells well, and you get an hourly fee along with that, you're
sitting pretty. Here are some statistics on jobs* in the gaming
market:

Graphics Designer:
Requirements:
Strong C/C++/Assembly programming abilities.
Strong 2D/3D programming experience.
Game programming experience.
Windows 95/DirectX programming experience.
Tools programming experience.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Description:
Working in an office anywhere from 5 to 12 hours a day.
Cooperating with other designers from all over the world.
Using latest technology, possibly unknown to you at
first.
Salary:
Anywhere from $500 to $600 per week, plus bonus
on each game released.
Storyline Editor (Script Editor):
Requirements:
A major in Writing, Philosophy, and/or any other social
science.
Experience in writing, creating, or outlining a storyline
suitable for a console game.
Being able to speak fluent Japanese (If working with a
Japanese company).
Again, excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Description:
Working in an office anywhere from 5 to 12 hours a day.
Working at home so as to catch up, if needed.
Cooperating with other storyline editors from all over
the world.
Talking in 2 or possibly 3 languages constantly.
Salary:
Anywhere from $500 to $700 per week, plus bonus
on each game released.
Quality Assurance Manager:
Requirements:
- Strong team management skills.
- College degree.
- Written/oral communication skills in English and either
French, German, Italian, or Spanish.
- Strong video game familiarity.
- 2+ years experience in the video game industry.
Description:
- Travelling to and from various countries
- Working with video game beta testers
- Working whenever assigned
Salary:
Depends mainly on how well you help the game sell. Usually
about $450 per week.
